Post Accepting credit cards from patients
on: July 12, 2011, 08:07

So I just started using Square. For those of you that haven't heard of it it is a free app for iPhone or Android (probably blackberry too) that allows me to accept credit cards on my phone!

The app is free! And as soon as I downloaded it and signed up for the service (also free) they sent me a credit card reader in the mail (Again, free!). Frickin' awesome as far I'm concerned. The rates for transactions are very competitive and are about the same as paypal (about 3%).

Now I can swipe my patient's credit card and make our transaction cashless. I can even type in the credit card number directly into my phone if they want to prepay before I deliver their meds.

NOTE:I wouldn't let Square know that its is a marijuana transaction or else they will close your account, just like paypal does, but you can easily put "Consulting services" in the description field.

I downloaded the app in the android market, but you can also go to http://www.squareup.com and get it there. It is probably available in the iphone store for all you apple enthusiasts.

Good luck. :D

We use Square and a free, Paypal/Intuit program for our businesses. I would suggest that you consult with a MM attorney regarding the use of any merchant services in relationship to any MM purchases.
Way too traceable, and the Federal government has open access to any credit card transactions. I would offer the same advice for any equipment or related purchases. Cash is king. The Federal government is not at all favorable of these State laws.
Just a friendly FYI.

I am a chronic pain patient in possession of a valid, Arizona Department of Health Medical Marijuana card, with cultivation rights. I offer caregiver services for non profit, cost of production donations. I also offer patient to patient transfers as allowed by Prop 203.
I am not a drug dealer, nor will I consider assisting anyone who does not possess or is in the process of possessing a valid, Arizona Department of Health Medical Marijuana card.
